Ohio County star headed to UK

Ohio County baseball star Sam Kidd has committed to the University of Kentucky.

Kidd, who is a pitcher and shortstop for Ohio County, gained notice last spring when he had 19 strikeouts in a victory over Hopkins County Central.

As a junior last season, Kidd had a 9-2 record, with an 0.88 earned run average and 97 strikeouts in 63 innings. He also hit .527.

Ohio County Coach Ted Hill said Kidd will try to split his time between pitching and playing either third base or the outfield in college.
